Author Biography
Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th President of the United States and one of the most dynamic leaders in American history. Born on October 27, 1858, in New York City, he overcame childhood illness through sheer determination, developing a lifelong passion for physical activity and the outdoors.
Roosevelt rose through politics as a New York assemblyman, U.S. Civil Service Commissioner, and New York City Police Commissioner before gaining national fame leading the Rough Riders during the Spanish-American War. At just 42, he became the youngest president in U.S. history following William McKinley's assassination in 1901.
As president, he championed progressive reforms, busted corporate monopolies, and established the national parks system. Roosevelt died on January 6, 1919, leaving a bold, lasting legacy.
